    Dr. Daniel Gottlieb is a researcher, inventor, lecturer, and author. Dr. Dan, as he is called, has provided insightful clinical care for over twenty-seven years. A Board Certified Optometrist, he is the President and Director of Gottlieb Vision Group whose doctors and staff provide specialty consultation services to patients of all ages from across the globe.  Dr. Gottlieb's team of professionals serves as part of the transdisciplinary treatment team evaluating, diagnosing, treating and managing complex visual and perceptual problems. His team provides neuro-optometric rehabilitation services to many patients at all stages of rehabilitation from coma to community re-entry helping to reach optimum outcomes for the rehabilitation patient. He and his vision rehabilitation staff were awarded the 1999 NORA Advancement of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Award.

     Dr. Gottlieb's team of professionals provides complex consultations, eye health evaluations, management of glaucoma, treatment of eye infections and contact lens care. His practice has available state-of-the-art equipment and technology promoting increased visual abilities and functional outcomes for his patients.

     On the local and regional level, Dr. Gottlieb has served as medical staff consultant to various public and private schools, institutions, and centers which serve learning disabled, multi-handicapped physically challenged, deaf, and brain and spinal cord injured individuals. Dr. Gottlieb has unique insight into challenging children and adult populations suffering visual and perceptual performance delays.  Current research includes measuring trends of visual disorders and treatment outcomes in children having autism and pervasive developmental disorders (PDD). 

     One of Dr. Gottlieb’s areas of specialization includes vision rehabilitation.   This treatment is important for children or adults who have acquired visual disorders not correctable by conventional glasses and/or contact lenses. Dr. Gottlieb's team of professionals provides unique rehabilitation care to the partially sighted who can often experience increased functional abilities through the use of telescopes, microscopes, prisms, and other devices and methods.  Dr. Gottlieb has conducted research in and has developed new techniques for the visual rehabilitation of head injured, stroke, coma, and neurologically impaired patients.  As inventor of The Visual Field Awareness System, an innovative and important new rehabilitation device for visual field loss and resultant neglect, he has made a significant contribution to the field of visual rehabilitation.

     Dr. Gottlieb has lectured to groups from a variety of professions at major conferences throughout the nation. He has authored numerous papers and publications in vision therapy, low vision care and neuro- optometric rehabilitation. He is a founding member of NORA Int., the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association International. His peers in optometry have recognized his abilities by accepting him as a Fellow of both the American Academy of Optometry (F.A.A.O.) and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. (F.C.O.V.D.).

     A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dan Gottlieb has been a leader in optometry in Atlanta since 1974.  Gottlieb Vision Group has two locations.  The original practice now known as the technology center is in Stone Mountain. In the spring of 2001 the Gottlieb Vision Group Center for Specialty Care in Duluth, Georgia was opened for consultation and multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment services.
