Please email us at gvgroup@bellsouth.net for any additional questions. This was written by our summer 2004 intern from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Pierre Vinh.
Hello, my name is Pierre Vinh and I was a senior intern from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry when I worked with Dr. Daniel Gottlieb at Gottlieb Vision Group’s Stone Mountain and Duluth offices during the summer of 2004. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Dan and his wonderful staff for creating such an enjoyable atmosphere in which to work. As my mentor during this time, Dr. Dan’s tremendous wealth of knowledge and his invaluable experience of over thirty years have helped solidify my skills as a clinician in the private practice setting. During my time at Gottlieb Vision Group, I encountered many challenging patients of all ages, including unique systemic and ocular conditions such as Usher’s Syndrome, ocular motor dysfunction, Duane’s retraction syndrome, aniridia, ocular albinism, and retinopathy of prematurity. The modern facilities are designed and equipped with the latest technologies to provide for the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. I was fortunate to have had the opportunities to provide pre-operative and post-operative care for several cataract surgery patients. In addition, because Gottlieb Vision Group encompasses patient care at the tertiary level, I was involved in extensive consultations for children and adults who suffered from vision loss secondary to traumatic brain injury or stroke. Since vision therapy is a key component of this practice, I learned by actively participating in the different treatment modalities for those who are experiencing vision-related learning difficulties. Furthermore, it is important to note that Gottlieb Vision Group does provide alternative treatment options to corneal refractive surgery, in the form of Paragon CRT lenses. What makes Gottlieb Vision Group truly special, besides the people who work there, is Dr. Dan’s expertise in the field of behavioral optometry. His uncanny ability to come up with solutions, whether it be with his patented Visual Field Awareness System or with yoked prisms, has left nothing but smiles on the faces of our patients. I would recommend this particular site to any future optometry student seeking a challenging externship in the private practice setting. A broadening of both clinical knowledge and experience will undoubtedly take place. |
